Lessons in Internet Safety

Dolton West Elementary District 148 is teaching students about Cyber Safety.
Beginning with the current 2009-2010 school year, Illinois schools by law must teach a component on Internet Safety at least once each school year to students in grades 3 or above.
District 148’s mission is to inform students about the dangers of the Internet while giving them the tools they need to make correct, informed decisions while working online.
With lessons from the Technology Team, teachers will be able to complete Internet Safety lessons within their classrooms.
There are seven different topics to be covered and teachers will receive a set of lessons for each subject. These lessons can be incorporated in a variety of ways such as character education, classroom lessons, science fair, etc.
During the first year of implementation, the Technology Team will provide support to ensure we accomplish our goals for students.
