Washington School families come together for ISAT

Washington School families are stepping up their efforts to help their children succeed on this year’s Illinois Standards Achievement Test (ISAT).

Families came together for the school’s ISAT Family Night on Wednesday, January 13th. Adults and children combined their efforts to create so-called “mini offices” for math and reading.

Each grade level “mini office” folder contains all of the reading and math skills on which students will be tested on the statewide achievement exams, Washington Elementary School External Instructional Coach Penny Lund said. The information is intended to be used as a reference tool for students to use during homework time and to review and practice tested skills.

Washington School also welcomes parents to Bring Your Parent to School Day and to ISAT Boot Camp, both held during the regular school day on Friday, February 12th. Students in Kindergarten through Grade 6 will be involved in various hands-on math activities that day. For those who are unable to attend, an ISAT Boot Camp Family Night will be held from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 11th at the school.
