WJH inducts National Junior Honor Society members
Nine Washington Junior High School seventh and eighth grade students who demonstrated excellence in leadership, academics, and more, earned the high honor of induction into their school’s chapter of the National Junior Honor Society. During an official Induction Ceremony held Thursday, May 13th in the school gymnasium, the following students pledged to uphold the Society’s key principles of leadership, scholarship, character, service, and citizenship: Tiaara Anderson, Brianna Gaddis, Loren Jones, Briana McCants, Mary Scott, Brittney Simmons, Shaquille Smith-Bridges, Destiny Thomas, and Charles Woods. Eligibility in the National Junior Honor Society ( NJHS) is open to students with a 3.2 grade point average for the first two quarters of the school year, a demonstration of the Honor Society’s values, and teacher input. Each new inductee signed his or her name to the school’s NJHS chapter and received a membership pin from the faculty member or administrator of their choosing. Gold, red, purple, green and white candles representing the Society’s five ideals were lit during the ceremony. At the conclusion of the event, each new and returning NJHS member lit his or her own individual white candle as a symbol of their intent to go forward and give light to others.
Each of the NJHS inductees signed his or her name into the WJH chapter registry.
Students and their families celebrate together.
