Roosevelt first-graders celebrate Father’s Day a little early

This Roosevelt Elementary School dad and his daughter enjoyed being together
during this year's Father's Day Fitness event on May 21st.

Students and their father or other male relative did some stretching and
warm up exercises, above and below, before participating in the day's activities.

They did push ups together.

Dads and their children helped each other with some sit ups.

Some fathers and other male relatives of first-graders at Roosevelt Elementary School recently got the chance to exercise, play tug of war, and shoot some hoops with the children at school.

The Annual First Grade Father’s Day Fitness event held Friday, May 21st at the Dolton school featured a sports theme and was intended to be an early Father’s Day celebration since school is not in session when Dad’s Day actually arrives.

Even though the weather conditions cancelled the softball game that was scheduled to take place, the students, the dads, and others enjoyed spending part of the day together in the school gym. Some of the Dolton school’s male staff members also took part in the various activities.

The yearly event is intended to be a day of fun for the students and their family members.

Throughout much of the day, there was a good-natured rivalry between students and the fathers in Ms. Morris’ first grade classroom and those from Ms. Nicks’ class.

The celebration came just two weeks after Roosevelt first-graders honored their moms during the Annual Mother’s Day Spa event.

Some Roosevelt Elementary School staff members joined the dads, above and below, in a friendly
tug of war competition.

The dads and youngsters also enjoyed shooting hoops.
