Dolton West Elementary District 148’s Mike Hurst and Lil Husbands were among Illinois educators featured at the recent 5th Annual Illinois New Teacher Collaborative Induction and Mentoring Conference.
The conference, entitled “Digging Deeper: Using the Induction and Mentoring Continuum for Program Advancement,” took place February 23-24 in Springfield.
Hurst, District 148’s induction/mentor coordinator, and Husbands, a teacher at Lincoln Avenue School in Dolton who also serves on the Mentor Leadership Team, gave a presentation on Building An Induction Program website. The event was sponsored by the College of Education at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, the State Farm Companies Foundation, the Illinois State Board of Education, and other Illinois New Teacher Collaborative partners.
The mission of the Illinois New Teacher Collaborative is to coordinate a network of services and resources through a statewide partnership of concerned stakeholders in order to attract and retain new teachers and enhance their ability to promote student learning.
