District 148 student wins Essay Contest


As his mother looked on, this Dolton West Elementary District 148 student was given
a certificate of recognition from the Board of Education during the board's June 24th meeting.
The youngster was honored for winning First Prize in the Riverdale Public
Library’s Money Smart Essay Contest. School Board President Joyce J. Jackson presented the
certificate to the student.


A Washington Elementary School student recently won First Prize in an essay contest sponsored by the Riverdale Public Library.

The student and his family attended the Dolton West Elementary District 148 Board of Education’s June 24th meeting at which the youngster was honored for his accomplishment.

The youngster explained his winning essay to the School Board and received a certificate of recognition from the board. He said this was his first essay contest win and he credited his teachers and Washington Principal Joy Chase for his achievement.

The boy won prizes of a Flip video, a free dinner at Pearlz Restaurant, and a gift card from the library’s Money Smart Essay Contest.
