The Curriculum Department believes that the best way to predict the future is to create it. In doing so, our goal is to determine what all students should be taught, know, understand, and be able to do as a results of the subjects they are taught. Our fundamental purpose is to provide structure in what teachers teach, that ensures student achieve agreed results. The Curriculum Department is committed to establishing learning outcomes for all of the District 148 students, regardless of who they are, which school they attend, where they are from, or what approach their teacher takes to help them achieve those outcomes. The objective is to give teachers flexibility and ownership over curriculum in a dynamic and rapidly changing classroom environment. Because we recognize and value the varied knowledge and experiences of our students, the teachers will use curriculum documents that provide a framework to assist them in developing their own teaching style based on the ethos and the needs of all children.
