Demi Lobo promotes Washington School’s
Singer/Songwriter Demi Lobo has been helping to spread the word about Washington School’s “Why Be Free?” anti-drinking campaign. Demi has done public service announcements for the campaign and she spoke personally to Grades 6 through 8 students about making good decisions. She also sang and performed with her dancers during her visit to the school on Friday, November 20th for a special kick-off event. The anti-drinking campaign will run through May. The effort also will include workshops and other activities such as essay and poster contests at Washington School, said Tula Beene, prevention specialist with the Family Guidance Centers, Inc. Demi Lobo said she believes in the "Why Be Free?" campaign. She urged Washington School students to stay away from alcohol and suggested they instead should get involved in positive activities. The Chicago native has been singing solos in church since she was 5 years old and at the age of 7 she landed the title of Miss Illinois “Best Actress”. When she was 10, she won her first oratorical and spoken word contests and at 16, she recorded her first song. Demi has been seen at more than 40 live shows across the Chicago land area this past year, performing her hits “Drama Queen” and “Swag King.” Her latest song, “Nightmares” has recently been released and already is a favorite among fans. She is currently a student at Columbia College Chicago and she interns at WGCI-107.5 FM.
