How To Get Involved In Teaching in the After School Program:
Any district teacher is eligible to participate in any of the seven after-school programs, however, hiring teachers/staff is site based (site coordinators working with the building principal). There are three distinct sessions for the 2008-2009 school year:
Session 1: August 30, 2010 -November 23, 2010
Session 2: November 29, 2010 - February 10, 2011
Session 3: February 14, 2011 - April 21, 201
After-school staff are hired for a session at a time, usually no more than two days a week. Hiring for each distinct session allows a site coordinator to assign different roles, allows new staff to participate, and allows for the release of staff that may be approaching “burn out”.

21st Century Personnel-Roles and Responsibilities
Site Coordinator ($30.00 per hour)
The site coordinator is responsible for ensuring that the program goals are being accomplished. Traditionally, there have been two site coordinators per building, each sharing the responsibility of ensuring program success on their two designated days. The site coordinators organize the program and hire personnel to work in the program. It is also the responsibility of the site coordinator to make sure that enough teachers/staff are on hand to teach in the program and to complete all paperwork required by the program director. Site coordinators are selected by the Principal of each building. If at anytime the site coordinator has a situation in which he/she is not certain, the Program Director, Tobin Mitchell should be contacted.
Teacher (Academic Portion of the Program) ($25.00 per hour)
Teachers in the 21st Century program are required to follow the sequence of the program and assist in meeting the goals of the program. It is expected that teachers provide high quality instruction and support at all times. Providing adequate supervision at all times is essential, the same parameters during the regular school day apply to supervision after school. Teachers should never leave students unattended. Providing a caring, nurturing environment is essential in developing a successful program. Teachers should also complete all necessary paperwork that is required of the program.
Teacher (Activity Hour Portion of the Program) ($25.00 per hour)
The same requirements exist for this position as described above - only the scope of curriculum is different.
Technology Assistant/Paraprofessional ($20.00 per hour)
The technology assistant is responsible for setting up/tearing down computers to ensure students can effectively utilize the technology. Once the technology is being utilized the Tech Assistant becomes a paraprofessional providing homework guidance and encouragement directly with students. The Site Coordinator will direct the Tech Assistant as to where he/she should be working at any given time. At the end of the academic portion of the program, the Tech Assistant is responsible making sure that all computers are shut down and secured. Once secured, the Tech Assistant will finish their day assisting in the final activity hour. Typically, the tech assistant will work approximately 3-3.5 hours per day.
Paraprofessional ($20.00 per hour)
The paraprofessional is responsible for providing direct support in the classroom to ensure the goals of the program are being accomplished. The site coordinator will direct which classroom the paraprofessional should be working within.
Secretary ($20.00 per hour)
The secretary is responsible for keeping accurate attendance ledgers, maintaining up-to-date class list, notifying the Director when students are added or dropped from the program, assist with telephone communications and provide first aid until the nurse arrives.
Nurse ($20.00 per hour)
The nurse is responsible for providing first aid/emergency care services to students at all seven sites. The nurse will respond to each site as needed.
