appleParticipating School and Program Times:
During the 2010-2011 school year, School District 148 will have seven schools participating in the 21st CCLC after-school program.  Approximately 630 students will potentially have the opportunity to take part in the program.  Schools providing after-school programs are:

  • Franklin Elementary (Granted Until 2014/2015)
  • Lincoln Elementary School (Granted Until 2010/2011)
  • Lincoln Jr. High (Granted Until 2010/2011)
  • Park Elementary (Granted Until 2010/2011)
  • Roosevelt Elementary (Granted Until 2014/2015)
  • Roosevelt Jr. High (Granted Until 2011/2012)
  • Washington Elementary (Granted Until 2014/2015)

The 21st CCLC Program in each building is similar in nature to the other schools; however, due to unique circumstances, some schools have different aspects of the grant.  All after-school programs run Monday through Thursday; however, the program times are different depending on the school dismissal time.  If students are dismissed at 3:00 p.m., the program runs from 3:00 p.m.-6:00p.m. If the students are dismissed at 2:30 p.m., the program runs from 2:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m.  Here is a breakdown of the schools and their particular program times:

2:30—5:30 p.m.

3:00—6:00 p.m.

appleStudent Eligibility For The Program:
The students that will be targeted to participate in the after-school program for the 2010 - 2011 school year will be:

  • Students who have been enrolled in their respective school prior to May 1, 2010.
  • Students who will be 3rd-8th graders in March, 2011.
  • Students who barely met or just missed making AYP in Mathematics or Reading (ISAT 2010).
A waiting list will be maintained at each site to provide for additional students with special recommendations if space permits.

The maximum number of students in the program that can be served in any one site is 90 students.  In previous years most schools have kept a waiting list of students that want to participate in the program if numbers permit.  Targeted students are accepted into the program on a first come, first serve basis.  Identical discipline rules and regulations are in place for both after-school and during the regular school day.

If discipline issues do arise, there is a "2 strikes you're out" policy for all behavior issues before a student is removed from the program. In the case of extreme situations such as fighting or severe disrespect, a student will be removed from the program immediately. It is our goal to keep students engaged and learning collaboratively to experience the many benefits that our grant program has to offer.

appleStudent Attendance Policy:
For students to benefit from our after-school program, sustained attendance is necessary.  Once admitted into the program, students are required to stay after school each day the program is in session.  If a student cannot stay after school on a particular day, the student’s parent/guardian must call the school to provide notification that the child will not be in attendance or a note is required explaining that the child will not be present on that given day.  As long as a parent/guardian provides notification about a student not attending the program, the student will not be penalized.

If a student skips the program without required notification from a parent/guardian, he/she will be given a warning.  The parent/guardian will be notified at this time about the warning. If another instance occurs where the student does not attend the after-school program, he/she will be removed from the program.
